The Tai Chi principles are at the core of QiGong Shibashi practice. Application of these principles develops and deepens awareness of Qi, the life energy, and how this is directed and guided the through the body. Each of the four principles delivers different physical, mental and QiGong health benefits.

Quiet and calm the mind

Through training and developing the ability to quieten thoughts and focus on the present we can:

  • Improve mental wellbeing

  • Reduce stress

  • Bring the autonomic nervous system into ‘rest and digest’ mode

  • Enable good Qi flow

Relaxation

Through releasing physical tensions we can:

  • Enable improved posture

  • Reduce risk of injury

  • Positively impact our mental wellbeing through connectedness of physical and mental states

  • Create a good environment for active Qi flow

Posture

Through focusing on developing a good posture we can:

  • Reduce risk of injury

  • Improve joint movement

  • Reduce muscular/skeletal pain

  • Creating an optimum state for receiving positive Qi

By bringing everything together into one continuum of focused movement we can:

  • Enable deeper experience of relaxation and calm

  • Optimising our absorption and flow of positive, fresh Qi and elimination of stagnant Qi
